Explore C8 RS6 and RS7 lowering on factory air suspension. Check air versus DRC, Virtual Link B1 installation and practical everyday clearance.
heights and supported drive-mode mapping. An Audi RS6 Avant featured on Pinnatec Auto’s website.
The C8 RS6 and RS7 already have a strong road presence. Adjusting the factory-air stance lets you bring the wheel gap and front-to-rear balance closer to the look you want. Virtual Link B1 adds that control without replacing the compatible factory air-suspension system. For owners who want more than one fixed drop, saved profiles make the difference. Refine the driving height, keep a low display setting and revisit the setup when wheels, tires or personal preferences change.
Check air suspension versus DRC
Before choosing a lowering controller, confirm the suspension on the actual car. Audi's RS6 technical information distinguishes adaptive air suspension from RS sport suspension plus with DRC. DRC uses steel springs and hydraulically linked dampers. Virtual Link B1 is for supported factory-air applications. It does not lower a steel-spring DRC configuration. The suspension identification guide can help if the vehicle's specification is uncertain.
Plan the installation for the body style
B1 installation includes connections at the ride-height sensors, protected harness routing and trunk wiring. The RS6 Avant and RS7 use different routes, so the body-specific instructions matter even though both belong to the C8 family. Have the installer review the B1 installation guide before starting. Include battery preparation, correct lifting, cable protection and initial configuration in the work. A1 trunk-install examples from older Audis do not describe this job. Existing lowering links and compatible aftermarket components can remain. Their effects should be understood before calibration and profile creation; see keeping lowering links with Virtual Link.
What the B1 installation involves
B1 guide images: a sensor connection and the harness section layout. The overview identifies the hardware arrangement; RS6 and RS7 body-specific routing still follows the relevant guide.
Adjust the details that make the stance work
Corner calibration gives the controller a measured baseline. Front and rear adjustment then lets you choose how the car sits as a whole. Rake is simply that front-to-rear height balance, and a small change can help you find the proportions you prefer. Use the Wi-Fi web interface or Bluetooth mobile app to adjust and save profiles. A cruising setting can sit alongside a low parked position and other setups you want to retain. Your configured settings do not depend on leaving the phone connected. On-the-fly height adjustment gives you access to the suspension's available range. For parked air-out appearance, Virtual Link can reach equally low positions as a dedicated venting setup in many applications. The actual result depends on the vehicle, components and calibration, as explained in the TGK comparison.
Separate appearance from performance testing
An RS6 or RS7 build may also see track use or launches. Saved height and rake profiles give you a repeatable starting point for that testing. They are useful setup controls, but a lower number is not evidence of better traction or faster acceleration. Evaluate each operating position with the wheels and tires fitted to the car. Tire-to-body clearance and available suspension travel matter under load and steering, not only when the car is sitting still. Preserve an everyday profile you already know works.
Put the profiles into Drive Select
Assign saved heights to the factory modes supported by your application. Confirm RS1/RS2 behavior rather than assuming every named mode provides another independent height slot. The mode-mapping guide explains the setup sequence. Once configured, familiar vehicle controls can select the supported settings without keeping the app open. That is the practical advantage over a single mechanical offset: the stance becomes something you can choose and repeat as part of using the car.
